Talk about my Kururin obsession

So well, when I was scrolling about neocities yesterday, I found a interesting website made by a Waluigi fan, who called Nickolox, they write an article about how they started to obsessed with Waluigi, their thoughts about character. It reminds me of my very old, private diary about history of my Kururin obsession, but it's fully mandarin and more like focus on how I like video games instead of the series,

Nickolox's story about Waluigi inspires me to write my own story about Kururin, how did I fell love with Kururin series? Why Kururin than other video games?

A bootleg PSP

Before Kururin, I already being a video game lover since young, my parents bought me bootleg game consoles like plug-to-plays, and some non-bootleg ones like GBA SP, I find video games in more interesting than other medias like animation and comic etc. When you can become everything and interactive everything in story.

When I was 12-13 years old, my parents bought me one chinese bootleg PSP called "Venus", it got ROM games in especially GBA games, incude Kuru Kuru Kururin, I played this game first time but didn't obsessed with it, instead, I was obsessed with another game called Chu Chu Rocket, for me, Kuru Kuru Kururin is just a cutesy game with silly birds and fairy tale worlds, even check the game on internet and learned about sequels, in same time, I imagine about if I have my own forum with different kinds of users in, one of users is a huge Kururin fan, their profile picture, signature (That old forum thing, bottom of every trend posts, if you know what I mean), name have Kururin everywhere, it was just my silly imagination, I never except it become the truth in one day, until I grow up to middle school.

To middle school era (I was 13-14 years old), I found one chinese youtber called "老E" when mess around on youtube, who made a video series which introduces GBA games, which also mentions Chu Chu Rocket and Kuru Kuru Kururin, I was still liking Chu Chu Rocket, since it also has GBA version of it, so I check his video to find the game, however, when to talk about Kururin, I imagine about Kururin and Teacher, then started to fell love with it sudentally, without any reasons, just because Kururin and Teacher Hare, they two causes my Kururin obsession, feeling like they two turns the lever on in my heart, looking back this still make me wonder how it happened, but still gratefully to the youtuber, oh yeah, also Kururin and Teacher Hare.

The middle school era

In the WHOLE middle school era, Kururin becomes my biggest part of my teenage life, it's my one huge inspiration to draw fanarts, like can't stop drawing about Kururin and other characters from is series, even my classmates know about it, when comes to graduation day, one classmate gives me a tiny card with drawn Kururin on it.
Speak about the drawing, I was obsessed with Kururin with Teacher Hare together, like crazy fangirl do, looking back make me cringe but I must to be honest, as fangirl, I kept imagining about if they're hang out together, drawn such of cringy fanarts about em, although I still like Kururin with Teacher nowdays but not cringe as middle school, I rather to see them as good friends.

I also start to browsing on internet for finding any contents about Kururin, collect official pictures, artworks from the series, trying to dig the iceberg of the Kururin series, articles, websites, fanarts, even the obscure part, I'll find it anyway like I'm gone insane, it becomes my one of habits even now.

High school era, to current days

My Kururin obsession kinda fade out when comes to high school era (16-19 years old), although Kururin still is my one of favourites, I was obsessed with other video games before bad things happened, which affects my mental health and how it started to get worse, hate to say but I should mention it, which about I found out the creator of my one favourite game turns to very horrible person, it causes my trust issues and heavy damages my mental health, I'M NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THAT DETAILLY.

Finally to 2020, my Kururin obsession come to back again, I begin to pick up my memories of middle school, drawing fanarts of Kururin series, browsing on internet as usual, finding Kururin contents, got actual Kururin merchandies (Guide books) and copies of three game series, the first ever merchandies I got is a GBA strap, from my one sister after I ask her for help, I join to twitter to post tweets about Kururin like shitposting and my drawings, then I meet a important person, RevilleAJ.

One time, I found a website called Kururin.xyz, the fansite which made by speedrunner Esh4rk, it also has world editor in, I join it's discord server, first time I was silent in the server due to shyness and lack of english skill, until RevilleAJ joins in (By introduce from one another pal, Velaachlorine), I got some courage to chat with people, post collections I have, we begin to talk about about Kururin series, life and everything, RevilleAJ and I become together in 2021, if without Kururin series, I wouldn't find a other half who has same interest as me, also a sweetheart, kind person in my life.

Thoughts of game, why Kururin?

BECASE I SIMP KURURINNNNN! HE'S MMY COMFORT CHARACTER, LOOK AT HIM, HE'S SO SOFT AND I WANT TO SQUEEZE HIM SO MUCHH-
Fangirling beside, for me, it's a very obscure and small game series with simple control, and hardcore gameplay, which is inspired by "Irritating stick" type of games, that's it, but it's unique, just like another games like Ristar and Hypnospace Outlaw, it also got it's own personality in, the music, artstyle and characters are my kind of taste, without Kururin the protagonist, I wouldn't fell love with a irritaing stick-like game.

Although I like simple and adorable non-human characters, but Kururin is only special one in my heart, not only his appearance and my strong emotion into him, He changes my life, not only for drawing, it let me find my beloved boyfriend, I got interested with english by english-speaker Kururin fans, without him, I'll lose reason to live.

Some of my favourite things in Kururin series

First for artstyle, Kururin paradise and Kururin squash is my biggest inspiration of my drawing, the main outlines seens like it got inspire by one show called super milk chan, as fan of artstyle like super milk chan, furi furi company and other superflat pop, Kururin paradise and squash has various outlines, virant but harmonious colour theory, however, I also find artworks Kuru kuru kururin has nice pixel details in, so I can't choose which Kururin games has best artstyle.

In Kururin paradise, the whole levels from world 3 (Or train/clock land, gear factory etc.) is my beloved area by the music and how steampunk-like, it's the main reason why middle school me is a big fan of steampunk, I still bit like steampunk but not as crazy like teenage, also I have zero knowledge of steampunk right now.
Magic kingdom (Or circus land) is also my beloved aera, not only the music, virant colour theory and how it looks circus-like, makes middle school me crazy with magician, clowns and party-related topics. For current days, may similar like clowncore and magician aesthetics...... although I'm not a fan of "core" and "aesthetic" terms.

Music is my one favourite, in Kuru kuru kururin, grassland, ocean and last land are my favourtie tracks, I like most music for Kururin paradise, night in Kururin village, underground tunnel (mine land), gear factory (train land) and clock tower (clock land), also magic kingdom (circus land) and minigame 4 is are beloved, in Kururin squash, sweet island 1, natural island, snowscape 1 and 2, VS battle are best ones.
